Boudoir Photography in Manchester & Oldham — What to Expect
Boudoir photography is one of the most searched for and least understood photography services out there. There’s a lot of misconception about what it is, who it’s for, and what actually happens in the studio. So let me clear that up.
As a boudoir photographer based in Oldham with over 2,000 sessions under my belt, I want to give you an honest, no-nonsense guide to what boudoir photography actually involves — and why so many women across Greater Manchester describe it as one of the best things they’ve ever done for themselves.
What is boudoir photography?
Boudoir photography is intimate portrait photography — usually solo — that celebrates your body, your confidence, and your story. It doesn’t have to be revealing. It doesn’t have to be for anyone else. It can be for a partner, yes — but more often than not, it’s for you.
The sessions I run are empowering, personal, and completely guided. You don’t need to know how to pose. You don’t need a particular body type. You just need to show up.
Who is it for?
Everyone. Seriously.
I’ve photographed women in their 20s, 50s and 70s. Women who’ve lost weight, women who haven’t. Women recovering from illness, women celebrating milestones, women who simply wanted to see themselves differently for once.
Boudoir is for anyone who wants to feel seen, celebrated, and proud of who they are right now — not who they used to be or who they’re working towards.
What happens on the day?
You’ll arrive at my studio at 1853 Studios in Oldham and we’ll have a relaxed chat before we even pick up the camera. We’ll talk about what you want from the session, look through some inspiration images, and sort out your outfits and styling.
I shoot tethered, which means you can see your images on a screen as we go. This is a game changer — it takes the anxiety out of the process completely because you can see straight away how amazing you look.
Sessions are private, relaxed, and entirely at your pace. Nothing happens that you’re not comfortable with.
What should I bring?
- 2-3 outfit options — lingerie, a silk robe, an oversized shirt, a bodysuit, whatever makes you feel like you
- Any props that are meaningful to you
- Your favourite music if you want it playing
- An open mind
Hair and makeup can be done beforehand or I can recommend local artists in the Oldham and Manchester area.
How much does it cost?
Boudoir sessions at my Oldham studio start from £150. I also offer boudoir as part of my gift voucher packages — a popular choice for birthdays, anniversaries and self-celebration milestones.
Will I actually like the photos?
In over 2,000 sessions, I have never had a client leave unhappy. Not once. The most common thing I hear is “I can’t believe that’s me.”
