Who I Am

Shoots Photographs is a sole trader photography business operated by Sharmaine Entwistle, based at Studio 50, 1853 Studios, Osborne Mill, Oldham, Greater Manchester, OL9 6QQ.

This policy explains how I collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use my website, enquire about my services, or book a session with me.

What Information I Collect

When you enquire or book:

• Your name, email address, phone number
• Details about the session you’re interested in (shoot type, dates, location, concept)
• Any information you choose to share during consultation (e.g. personal circumstances, accessibility needs, boundaries, wardrobe preferences)

When you attend a session:

• Photographs and/or video footage of you
• Signed booking agreements and consent forms
• Model release forms (if applicable)
• Proof of age (for 18+ sessions — viewed and verified only, not stored)

When you use my website:

• This website is hosted by WordPress.com. WordPress.com may collect standard analytics data including IP addresses, browser type, and pages visited. Please see WordPress.com’s Privacy Policy for details.
• I do not personally collect cookies or tracking data beyond what WordPress.com provides as standard.

When you purchase training or downloads:

• Your name, email address, and payment details (processed securely — I do not store card details)

Why I Collect Your Information

I use your personal information for the following purposes:

• To respond to your enquiry and provide a quote or consultation
• To deliver the service you’ve booked — photography, videography, or training
• To send you your images via secure online gallery or other agreed delivery method
• To manage bookings — confirmations, reminders, rescheduling
• To process payments and issue receipts or invoices
• To comply with legal obligations — tax records, contractual obligations
• To improve my services — understanding what clients need

I will never use your information for unsolicited marketing unless you’ve specifically opted in.

Legal Basis for Processing

Under UK GDPR, I process your personal data on the following grounds:

• Contract: Processing necessary to fulfil a booking or provide a quoted service
• Legitimate interest: Responding to enquiries, managing my business operations
• Consent: Where you’ve given specific permission (e.g. sharing images on social media, signing a model release)
• Legal obligation: Retaining financial records as required by HMRC

Your Photographs

Your images are treated with the highest level of care and confidentiality.

• I will never share, publish, display, or use your photographs without your explicit written permission. This applies to all shoot types.
• If you sign a model release, only the specific uses agreed in that document apply. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• For boudoir, intimate, and fetish/kink photography: Your images are stored securely and confidentially. They are never used for marketing, portfolio, social media, or any other purpose unless you provide separate, specific written consent.
• Proof of age documents (for 18+ sessions) are checked in person and are not photographed, copied, or stored.

How I Store Your Information

• Digital files (images, documents, correspondence) are stored on password-protected devices and/or encrypted cloud storage
• Physical documents (signed agreements) are stored securely at my studio
• Payment information is processed through secure third-party providers — I do not store your card details
• I take reasonable steps to protect your data from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse

How Long I Keep Your Information

• Enquiries that don’t proceed to booking: Deleted within 12 months
• Booking records and agreements: Retained for 6 years (HMRC requirement for financial records)
• Photographs: Retained for 12 months after delivery unless you request earlier deletion or we agree a longer retention period
• Model releases: Retained for as long as the images are in use, plus 6 years
• Training records and student data: Retained for 12 months after your last session

If you’d like your data or images deleted sooner, just ask. Where there’s no legal obligation to retain it, I’ll delete it promptly.

Who I Share Your Information With

I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

I may share limited information with:

• Online gallery providers — to deliver your images (e.g. your name and email to set up your gallery)
• Payment processors — to process transactions securely
• HMRC — financial records as legally required
• Professional collaborators (e.g. HMUA, second shooter, rigger) — only with your prior knowledge and consent, and only the information necessary for them to do their job

No one else receives your information unless required by law.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data I hold about you
• Correct any inaccurate information
• Delete your personal data (where there’s no legal reason to keep it)
• Withdraw consent at any time (e.g. for image sharing)
• Object to processing based on legitimate interest
• Request a copy of your data in a portable format
• Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you believe your data has been mishandled — ico.org.uk

Children

I photograph children as part of family sessions with parental/guardian consent. I do not collect personal data from children directly. All communication and consent is managed through the parent or legal guardian.
