Tommyfield Market

Tommyfield Market, right in the heart of Oldham.
The first market in Oldham was founded in 1788, in later years the market was held on open land owned by Thomas Whittaker and this land near Albion Street soon became known as Tommyfield Market.
The Market Hall was destroyed by a huge fire in 1974 and the hall was replaced by a temporary market building, before construction work began on the new hall in the early 1990s.
The Market is due to be demolished and the resident shop owners moved in to Town Square Spindles Shopping Centre which will also see a revamp.
